It was a memorable day for North Beach Tuesday as a crowd of citizens joined town, state and Calvert County notables for the ribbon-cutting of the new Town Hall.
โThis day recognizes the official opening of the Town Hall, an event that doesnโt happen many times,โ said North Beach Mayor Mark Frazer. โThis is a beautiful building that we can all be proud of.โ
He asked โthat we put aside all the controversy and division that attended this project in the past.โ and added, โThis new town hall stands for who we are and what we are.โ
State Senate President Thomas V. โMikeโ Miller stated that he had seen North Beachโs โups and downs,โ and said of the Town Hall, โIf the people who founded North Beach 100 years ago could see this now: This looks like it belongs in Charleston, South Carolina.โ
According to Miller, โThe mayor and town council came together to make it happen. You never get sorry to help North Beach. Itโs a beach town with a home town atmosphere.โ
For Delegate Mark Fisher, the ribbon-cutting โbegins a new chapter in this townโs renaissance,โ and he noted that โthese projects occur over many years and many public servants,โ recognizing the contributions his predecessor delegates in attendance, George Owings and Sue Kullen.
He concluded, โCongratulations on a job well done. Let this building be the beginning of many good things to come.โ
Calvert County Commissioners President Susan Shaw called the event โexciting. Itโs about time you folks had a Town Hall that signifies who you are โ people who come together when thereโs a need.โ
