It was a memorable day for North Beach Tuesday as a crowd of citizens joined town, state and Calvert County notables for the ribbon-cutting of the new Town Hall.

โ€œThis day recognizes the official opening of the Town Hall, an event that doesnโ€™t happen many times,โ€ said North Beach Mayor Mark Frazer. โ€œThis is a beautiful building that we can all be proud of.โ€

He asked โ€œthat we put aside all the controversy and division that attended this project in the past.โ€ and added, โ€œThis new town hall stands for who we are and what we are.โ€

State Senate President Thomas V. โ€œMikeโ€ Miller stated that he had seen North Beachโ€™s โ€œups and downs,โ€ and said of the Town Hall, โ€œIf the people who founded North Beach 100 years ago could see this now: This looks like it belongs in Charleston, South Carolina.โ€

According to Miller, โ€œThe mayor and town council came together to make it happen. You never get sorry to help North Beach. Itโ€™s a beach town with a home town atmosphere.โ€

For Delegate Mark Fisher, the ribbon-cutting โ€œbegins a new chapter in this townโ€™s renaissance,โ€ and he noted that โ€œthese projects occur over many years and many public servants,โ€ recognizing the contributions his predecessor delegates in attendance, George Owings and Sue Kullen.

He concluded, โ€œCongratulations on a job well done. Let this building be the beginning of many good things to come.โ€

Calvert County Commissioners President Susan Shaw called the event โ€œexciting. Itโ€™s about time you folks had a Town Hall that signifies who you are โ€” people who come together when thereโ€™s a need.โ€
