On Oct. 26 at about 12:03 a.m., Cpl. Handy encountered Gary V. Shubrooks Jr., 18 of Lexington Park, on Wasp Drive whom Dep. Chimko-Fahey had a criminal summons. Dep. Chimko-Fahey responded and began to serve Shubrooks the summons, when Shubrooks grabbed the summons and attempted to tear it up. Cpl. Handy approached Shubrooks to prevent the destruction of the summons and was pushed in the chest.
Shubrooks was charged with assault, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct. Shubrooks was released to the custody of the St. Mary’s County Detention Center pending a hearing before the District Court Commissioner.
