Officer hit during traffic stop

Prince Frederick, MD – Dfc. P. Aurich was taken to Calvert Memorial Hospital  Jan. 5,   after his patrol vehicle was sideswiped during a traffic stop, the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Aurich was performing a traffic stop on Route 4 and Bowie Shop Road in Huntingtown when Wayne Calvin McGahan, of Huntingtown, sideswiped the officer’s vehicle and then came to a stop after also striking the dump truck that Aurich had stopped.

McGahan was issued three citations for his involvement in the crash.

Aurich was the only person injured in the accident and was treated at Calvert Memorial Hospital and then released.
