Charles County Sheriff Rex W. Coffey said sheriffโs detectives arrested Jovan Roy Campbell, 32, and Malcolm Xavier Turner, 38, both of Washington, D.C., in connection with multiple burglaries that occurred throughout the county.ย Detectives say between May and August of this year, the suspects broke into at least a dozen homes and stoleย money, jewelry, computers and televisions.
A break in the case came when a witness called police on August 2 to report a burglary in progress at a house in the 5700 block of Chapmanโs Landing Road in Indian Head.
The witness gave officers a vehicle description including a tag number. Officers ran a computer check and learned the owner of the car often pawned items at a pawn shop in Prince George’s County. Detectives from Charles County immediately responded to the pawn shop and discovered the suspectโs car in the parking lot.
Further investigation revealed the suspects were inside attempting to pawn the stolen jewelry. The suspects were subsequently arrested and charged in connection with the burglary. Detectives are looking into the possibility the suspects are responsible for many other burglaries including several in the Indian Head and Hughesville areas.
