Old Line Bank hopes to establish a new branch bank in Leonardtown in the future. The establishment of the branch will be dependent on the bank receiving regulatory approvals. One of those approvals, a concept plan from the Leonardtown Planning and Zoning Commission, was unanimously approved on Monday.
The proposed branch site is on Newtowne Neck Road behind the Dash-In. Entrance off Newtowne Neck Road would be off the existing entrance to Dash-In and the KFC next to it. The entrance to the property is opposite the entrance to the Leonardtown Centre. The bank would be on the remaining parcel of the three subdivided from one tract of land at that corner.
According to the presentation to the planning commission, the 2,505 square-foot building would be of colonial design and have two drive-in windows. The proposal would require moving a forest conservation easement on the property and a removal of part of the property from a flood plain designation. There is a tree line between the proposed branch and the Port of Leonardtown winery that would act as a buffer.
There will be an attempt to get the new building to be certified Leed Certified Gold, meaning it is at the top echelon of green building design. During the planning commission presentation, Chairperson Jean Moulds said, โI am very impressed that you are going for the Gold.โ
