On Tuesday, Dec. 31 at approximately 8:05 p.m., there was a single-vehicle accident on northbound Route 4 before Mount Harmony Road in the Dunkirk-Owings area. The vehicle was found on its side and had two individuals inside. One person was flown out to hospital and the other possibly transported to Calvert Memorial Hospital for observation. The road was closed for one hour until the vehicle could be removed.
Police in Calvert County also responded to at least two other motor vehicle accidents during the New Year’s Eve overnight hours. Around 1 a.m. a crash occurred on southbound Route 2/4 at Cove Point Road in Lusby. Shortly before 2 a.m. an accident was reported at the Route 260 – Old Solomons Island Road intersection in Owings.
