On July 20, the Alcohol Enforcement Coordinator, St. Mary’s Sheriff’s SDFC Emory M. Johnson conducted an alcohol compliance operation.
The compliance operation was conducted utilizing an individual under the age of 21 who entered alcohol establishments in an attempt to purchase alcohol.
During the operation, eight (8) businesses were checked with one business out of compliance.
A clerk at Murphy’s Town and Country Market in Avenue sold alcohol to the police operative.
The clerk was issued a Civil Citation for furnishing an alcoholic beverage to a person under the age of 21. The compliance violation will be brought before the Alcohol Board for review.
