Lexington Park, MD – This week in SMAC football, four undefeated teams faced one another. (4-0) St. Charles traveled to (4-0) Northern and (4-0) Huntingtown traveled to (4-0) North Point for the SMAC Game of the Week. Two 2A South playoff contenders played as (3-1) Thomas Stone traveled to (2-2) Calvert for a game

Undefeated 3A South foes St. Charles and Northern played Friday, resulting in a 12-0 Spartan win. St. Charles turned a corner, improving to (5-0) on the year after traveling to Northern, elevating the Spartans to number one in the 3A South region with 42 accumulated points. Star quarterback and linebacker for St. Charles, Kameron Blount (Sr.), scored the game’s first touchdown on a 38 yard run with 6 min. and 17 sec. left in the first quarter. Blountโ€™s brother, Konner Blount-Foster (Jr.), intercepted a pass and scored on a long 65-yard screen pass touchdown in the second quarter. Northern started the game with sophomore quarterback Nicholas Olson who completed 11 of 27 passes for 124 yards and two interceptions. The Patriots also worked in junior Rex Flemming at quarterback who led the team in rushing with 56 yards on five carries. St. Charlesโ€™ defense had three interceptions, sophomore Konner Blount, senior Quinton Myrick, and senior Kameron Blount. Northern is third in the 3A South playoff race with 30 accumulated points, the top four teams in each region make the playoffs. Other SMAC playoff contenders in the 3A South are Huntingtown which is number two with 32 points and Chopticon at number six with 15 points, 9.5 points behind number four Potomac. (4-1) Northern travels to (5-0) North Point at 7 p.m. and (5-0) St. Charles hosts (0-5) Leonardtown at 7 p.m.

(3-2) Westlake traveled to and defeated (0-5) Great Mills 27-6. Westlake recorded nine sacks in the contest โ€” Deshawn Holt (Sr) four sacks, L. Washington (Sr) three, Earl Spicer jr (Sr), and Xavier Young (Jr) each had one. On offense, the Wolverines had three different rushing scorers โ€” C. Marshall (Sr),ย  Jalon Spencer (Sr), and A. Jackson jr. (Sr). Senior quarterback Jalon Spencer completed 4 of 12 passes for 88 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. (3-2) Westlake goes to (3-2) Lackey this week for the SMAC Game of the Week at 7 p.m. and (0-5) Great Mills plays (2-3) Chopticon home at 6 p.m.

Thomas Stone and Calvert played for a 2A South regional matchup. The Cavaliers, playing at home, handled the Cougars 48-20. The Cavaliers jumped out to a substantial lead, scoring 19 points in the first quarter of the contest. Stone answered in the second quarter, scoring ten unanswered points, making the halftime score 19-17. Stone didnโ€™t score another touchdown the rest of the game and Calvert dictated the entire second half. The Cavalier rushing attack accounted for all six touchdowns and 376 yards. Senior running back Dre Mackall carried the ball 29 times for 244 yards and five touchdowns. Junior quarterback Michael Floria was a perfect five of five passing for 137 yards. Thomas Stone rushed for 163 yards with senior Trent Gaskins leading the team, rushing for 73 yards and a touchdown. The Cougars other touchdown came from a Cole Lucia (Sr) pass to Jaylen Kelley (Sr). This Friday, (3-2) Calvert travels to (1-4) McDonough and (3-2) Stone plays at (4-1) Huntingtown. Both games kickoff at 7 p.m.
