Gregory W. Ostrander, a resident of Chesapeake Beach, filed on August 2nd with the Board of Elections for one of the at-large Calvert County Board of Education (BOE) seats in the 2014 election.

Born in Oakland, CA, Ostrander moved with his family to the Finger Lakes region of New York shortly before his eighth-grade school year. After graduating from Waterloo High School in 1997 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served as a cryptologic technician for over seven years. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, Ostrander was hired by his current employer in 2005 after he moved to Maryland.

Ostrander received degrees from Finger Lakes Community College and the University of Maryland University College and is currently working on his masterโ€™s degree in criminal justice management.

Ostrander is married to the former Olivia Field, also a Navy veteran. They have three children, Brody, age 7 and a second-grader at Sunderland Elementary School (SES); Danielle, age 6 and a first-grader at SES; and Katie, age 4.

Throughout this campaign, Ostrander will talk about fiscal responsibility, decreasing the gap in test scores by looking at the root of the problems, and a wide variety of other issues that have an impact on the quality of education and our graduatesโ€™ entry into the workforce.
