Clements, MD— On August 19, St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Cpl. Smolarsky conducted a traffic stop for speeding on a white Nissan Altima at Point Lookout Road, Leonardtown.
The defendant was sitting in the front passenger seat and self-identified herself as Megan L. Maxwell,36, of Clements and a check of in-house use computer photo matched Maxwell.ย
Smolarsky conducted aย check with dispatch that revealed Maxwell had an outstanding warrant for failing to appear to court July 21 on a malicious property destruction charge.
During a search of Maxwell’sย purse which was located in the front passenger floorboard and contained items with, “her name on it, numerous loose pills were located in the zipper portion of the inside of the purse,” according to charging documents.ย
In addition, “two hypodermic needles were found, one inside the zipper portion and one inside the regular compartment of the purse along with a homemade
plastic smoking device,” charging documents indicated.ย
Maxwell was arrested and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center, where she was charged with CDS possession paraphernalia.ย
At this time Maxwell does not have a scheduled court date. Maxwell faces a maximumย fine of $500.ย
