Upper Marlboro, MDย – A Prince George’s County man pleaded guilty Wednesday, Aug. 2 to the murder of his infant son.
Antoine Petty, 33 of Greenbelt, was charged with murder in the first-degree, child abuse physical with death, first-and second-degree assault.
Police say he became upset with his 2-month-old son, Antoine Flemons, in October of 2016 and punched the boy to death.
After the baby was reported missing by family members, police say Petty and his wife, Geneice Petty, led officers to the body, which was buried in a shallow grave.
Petty is facing up to 40 years in prison when he is sentenced. He’s due in court for sentencing in October.
Geneice Petty is charged with involuntary manslaughter, first and second degree accessory after the fact. She is scheduled to go on trial in October.
Greenbelt, MD— Detectives with our Homicide Unit arrested a man and woman in connection with the murder of their baby boy. The suspects are 24-year-old Geneice Petty and 32-year-old Antoine Petty of the 8500 block of Greenbelt Road in Greenbelt. The victim is their child, 2-month-old Antoine Flemons of theย 8500 block of Greenbelt Road in Greenbelt.
On October 17th, detectives were notified by family members that Geneice Petty and Antoine Flemons were missing. On October 18, detectives were able to locate Geneice Petty and Antoine Petty.ย During interviews, Antoine Petty admitted that he assaulted his son resulting in the child’s death.ย Both then admitted that they buried the baby in an effort to conceal the crime.ย The suspects lead detectives to a shallow grave in the Riverdale area where the baby was discovered dead.
Antoine Petty is charged with First and Second Degree Murder, and various related charges.ย Geneice Petty is charged with Accessory After the Fact.ย They are in the custody of the Department of Corrections.
