wife team specializing in TopRock and a favorite of Parrot Heads across the country, will perform. Tickets are $15 and will be available at the door.
“SMPHC is a social club with a charitable heart,” said Karl Otto, club vice president and chairman of the social committee. The club has raised funds for Hospice of Charles County and the St. Mary’s County Animal Welfare League. Club members do clean up work on state Route 235 near Clover Hill Road and help maintain the Red Trail at Calvert Cliffs State Park.
The club was founded in 2005 by Melissa Carnes. “We have had up to 110 members,” Otto said; currently, there are 65.
“We are a group of people who embrace the Buffet lifestyle — laid back and tropical,” Otto said. Members wear club T-shirts and gather for happy hour about once a month. Buffet costumes are more likely worn at national events or when joining other clubs in Annapolis and the District of Columbia. “We had a party in Northeast,” Otto added, and raised money for the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.
