“It’s mind-boggling the success we’re having in helping people get their life back,” Terri Verbic-Boggs says. She’s been a health professional for 43 years, working as an R.N. and as a certified health coach since 2012. She recently finished a functional medicine program, which opened her eyes to the effect nutrition and other environmental factors have on chronic illnesses like migraines, gut issues, and depression.

No More Pills For Ills

“Western medicine tends to be pills for ills,” Terri says, “Functional medicine is holistic health. Looking at the whole person to gain insight into the deficiencies in the body causing illness. Over 70% of chronic diseases are related to nutritional deficiencies.”

Terri is the owner of Partners In Health in Leonardtown, where she puts decades of medical knowledge to good use.

“As a nurse and a health coach, I have the best of all worlds. I can look at the big picture with compassion and drill down to the root cause of their problems.”

Small Changes, Big Results

Since opening her business last summer, she’s seen many surprises. “I never expected to work with children. I had three clients, children with behavior issues. In each case, it was suggested they go on medication. Their behavior issues were reversed after we determined heavy metal toxicity in the kids.”

Terri says chronic people who suffer from migraines found relief after she determined mold exposure was at the root of their suffering. “Once the mold is remediated, their symptoms are gone.”

Something as simple as eliminating dairy from the diet brought relief to people suffering from chronic sinus pain and skin rashes. Hormone imbalances are sometimes at the root of devastating emotional problems.

Terri says she starts by really listening to her patients and taking a detailed history. My big thing is that I think that all my clients will tell you that I actually listen to people. It’s very individualized for each person.”

Full-Body Wellness Scan

She also has a high-tech device called a Zyto Scan. “It’s full-body wellness scan that looks at what’s going on inside your body. We can look at multiple areas like gut health, hormone health, toxins in the body, sleep, and quality of sleep. It also looks for chronic inflammation which is a huge trigger for chronic disease. “

Then Terri teams up with her clients to find solutions. “I always look first at lifestyle changes not, medications. Are there environmental factors? Are their food changes? It fascinates me that simple things can make huge changes.”

She says she considers her practice more of a ministry than a business. “It’s the whole crux of everything that I do. I was born and raised here. This is my community. I have a vested interest in its health.”

Something For Everyone

Terri is also excited about the structured detox program she’s conducting via Zoom meetings. “I help people cleanse and heal the liver, guts, and kidneys. I teach them about cleaning toxins out of the home, food, and work environment. By the end of that 28 days, it is so amazing. Their gut is better, sleep is better, depression improves. “This is so unbelievable when you can just eliminate a few things and it all comes together.”

She’s also conducting a free wellness class for senior citizens. The group covers topics ranging from nutrition to exercises you can do from the safety of a chair.

“I met a few clients that came into the office that were reluctant to do online classes. I decided to host a small, socially distant eight-person group that meets twice a month. It’s called Savvy Seniors… they love, love, love the program.”

Terri wants people to know one thing. “It is never too late to make little improvements that last you a lifetime that can really improve the quality of life. Are you sick and tired of feeling sick and tired? Come see me.”
