On Thursday, October 20, 2005 at 12:40 am, TFC L. Nims was patrolling Route 5 in the area of Mechanicsville Road when he observed a Cavalier driving at what appeared to be slower then the posted 55 mph speed limit. A pace was conducted and a speed of 35 mph was determined.
When TFC Nims attempted to stop the vehicle he observed a piece of paper being thrown from the rear window. Once the vehicle stopped and back-up arrived TFC Nims returned to where the piece of paper was thrown and located a piece of paper that contained Cocaine.
The rear passenger, John Fitzgerald Jacobs, 38, of Mechanicsville was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine. He was taken to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center pending a bond review.
