Seat Pleasant, MD – The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal pedestrian collision in Seat Pleasant Friday evening. The victim is Wayne Tonio Davis, 63 of Suitland. The driver of the vehicle that struck Davis remained on the scene. The driver of a second vehicle that collided with the back of the first vehicle did not remain on the scene. Investigators are working to identify and locate that second driver. Preliminarily, it does not appear that the fleeing vehicle also struck the victim or contributed to the collision involving the pedestrian.

On Oct. 13 at approximately 7:30 p.m., patrol officers responded to East Capitol Street and Yost Place for a collision involving a pedestrian. The victim was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the vehicle that struck the victim was taken to a hospital for an evaluation.

The preliminary investigation reveals Davis was struck as he tried to cross East Capitol Street. Preliminarily, it does not appear he was in a crosswalk.

Investigators are working to identify the driver who fled the scene. The fleeing car is described as a sedan, possibly a Buick. It may have front-end damage.
