Leonardtown, MD โ€“ A Ford pickup truck was deliberately set on fire Thursday morning, June 30 in St. Maryโ€™s County, state investigators reported. According to the Maryland State Fire Marshalโ€™s Office, the torched truck was discovered by a passing motorist shortly after 2 a.m. on Friendship School Road in Leonardtown.

โ€œThe abandoned vehicle was found burning in the middle of the roadway,โ€ a fire marshalโ€™s report stated. โ€œThe investigation revealed the fire was intentionally set.โ€
The Ford F150 pickup was owned by Ralph Ernst, state investigators reported.

Damage was estimated at $15,000. Four firefighters were dispatched and put the flames out in five minutes. There were no injuries reported.

No arrests have been made. Anyone who has information that might aid investigators is asked to call the Maryland State Fire Marshalโ€™s Office at 443-550-6833.
