At 8:25 p.m. Oct. 24, Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to the parking lot of Burchmart located at 10195 Berry Road in Waldorf for the citizen’s report of a man sitting in a vehicle with a handgun.
Officers found the man sitting in a vehicle backed into a parking space in front of the Burchmart. Officer D. Benthin observed the man take a handgun from his waist and place it between the passenger seat and door.
Officers arrested the man without incident and recovered the handgun. He is identified as Deshann Cordell Prophet, 20, of Waldorf. Prophet was charged with possession of a handgun in a vehicle and possession of a handgun on person. Officer L. Payne investigated.
