PNC Bank recently awarded a $5,000 Grow Up Great grant to Historic St. Mary’s City (HSMC), a museum of living history and archaeology in Southern Maryland.
Funding will support outreach, allowing the museum’s Mother Goose Rhyme Time to visit Southern Maryland schools with limited funds for enrichment activities. Rhyme Time is an active naming, rhyming, sensory adventure for pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students. Children learn about life long ago through nursery rhymes and hands-on activities.
“Rhyme Time has received rave reviews from teachers, who recognize that early childhood learning is critical for academic success,” noted HSMC Executive Director Regina Faden, Ph.D. “The grant will allow us to deliver a museum-quality experience to the schools that most need it and are least-able to afford it.”
Book this and other educational programs by contacting Amy Griffin, HSMC group tour coordinator, at 240-895-4979 or groups@hsmcdigshistory.org. Learn about the museum, special events for children and adults, and tour opportunities at www.hsmcdigshistory.org or by calling 1-800-762-1634
