LEXINGTON PARK, MD. – On the morning of Jan. 16, Spring Ridge Middle School received a call from a concerned parent who notified the school of a shooting threat made by a student on social media.

School administrators contacted the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office and are taking action. “There was a threat made; it has been looked into and the child who made the threat and his family contacted. Our School Resource Officers are working with the school administrators on a resolution,” says a representative from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office.ย

Spring Ridge Middle School will continue to operate on a normal schedule and will have a School Resource Officer from the Sheriff’s Office on school grounds for the rest of the day.ย
