At 9:53 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 22, Charles County Sheriffโ€™s officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of Westdale Drive, in Waldorf, for unknown trouble.

Upon arrival, officers found Ruben Hernandez, 24, and an 18-year-old man, who both live at the residence, bleeding and suffering from knife wounds.

Investigation revealed the men became involved in a drunken fight andย Hernandez had retrieved a kitchen knife and attempted to stab the 18 year old housemate. Theย 18 year oldย grabbed the knife, causing a laceration to his hand. The drunken men continued to fight until the officers arrived.

Both menย were transported to Civista Medical Center for treatment.

Upon Hernandezโ€™s release from the hospital later that evening, officers arrested him and charged him with first degree assault, two counts of second degree assault, reckless endangerment and possession of a deadly weapon with intent to injure. He is being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the district court commissioner. Officer C. Strafella investigated.
