At 9:53 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 22, Charles County Sheriffโs officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of Westdale Drive, in Waldorf, for unknown trouble.
Upon arrival, officers found Ruben Hernandez, 24, and an 18-year-old man, who both live at the residence, bleeding and suffering from knife wounds.
Investigation revealed the men became involved in a drunken fight andย Hernandez had retrieved a kitchen knife and attempted to stab the 18 year old housemate. Theย 18 year oldย grabbed the knife, causing a laceration to his hand. The drunken men continued to fight until the officers arrived.
Both menย were transported to Civista Medical Center for treatment.
Upon Hernandezโs release from the hospital later that evening, officers arrested him and charged him with first degree assault, two counts of second degree assault, reckless endangerment and possession of a deadly weapon with intent to injure. He is being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the district court commissioner. Officer C. Strafella investigated.
