A gold-toothed criminal is wanted in Calvert County and 7 other jurisdictions for using counterfeit credit union checks to made several major purchases.
Police are on the lookout for Lester Aubrey Lee, Jr., a 6-foot, 220-pound black male with curly hair, for passing the bogus checks throughout the state.
Police say Lee purchased two GMC Yukon SUVs and an all terrain vehicle from unsuspecting citizens in Calvert who placed classified ads to sell their goods.
On Dec. 21, TFC Bevard, of the Prince Frederick barrack, took a report from Phillip Boyd, of Owings, in reference to a stolen vehicle.
Boyd told police he listed his GMC Yukon for sale and received a call from a subject asking him about the vehicle.
The subject responded to Boydโs residence, identified himself as James Taylor, and presented Boyd with an Andrews Federal Credit Union Cashierโs Check as payment for the Yukon.
Two days later, TFC Scott Bennett took a report from Lindsey Shaner, of Chesapeake Beach, in regards to a stolen vehicle.
Shaner had also listed his GMC Yukon for sale and was contacted by the same subject. The man arrived at Shanerโs residence took the vehicle for a test drive and then presented the victim with a Cashierโs Check from Andrews Federal Credit Union.
On Dec. 27, Lee returned to Calvert County and used a counterfeit Andrews Federal Credit Union check to purchase an ATV from a victim in St. Leonard, police say.
