UPDATE – On Monday, June 14, 2021, at approximately 7:07 p.m. deputies from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 21900 block of Chancellor’s Run Road in Great Mills, for the reported shooting. Deputies located Valdez Rico Baker III,  age 19 of California, suffering from a gunshot wound to the head on the basketball court. The victim was transported by helicopter to an area trauma center for treatment where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Shortly afterward, at approximately 7:16 p.m. deputies responded to the 20800 block of Daisy Lane in Lexington Park, for the reported shooting. Deputies located a male victim, age 21 of Lexington Park, suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. The victim was transported by helicopter to an area trauma center for treatment and remains hospitalized.

Members of the Youth Gun Violence Task Force and detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division along with crime lab personnel responded to both locations and continued the investigations.

At this time, it is unknown if the shootings are related. GREAT MILLS, Md. – We are receiving reports of a shooting at the Chancellors Run Activity Center on Chancellors Run Road in Great Mills.

Police fire, and rescue responded the the basketball court at 7:08 p.m., and found one subject with a gunshot wound in the head. MEDEVAC has been requested the patient. Police are securing the scene for emergency crews. We are receiving reports that police are dealing with hostile individuals on the scene.
