A man who was arrested for an armed bank robbery and was taken to the hospital after trying to harm himself has escaped.
According to the Fairfax County Police, Wossen Assaye (pictured above) was in custody of a private security guard and escaped from INOVA Hospital with a gun.
The hospital was put on lockdown but has now been deemed safe.
Assaye is said to be wearing a hospital gown and no shoes and is armed with a gun. He may be traveling with his girlfriend (pictured above).
He is said to be driving a silver Toyota Camry with Virginia tags: XZP-8513. Anyone who sees this vehicle is advised to call the police.
