St. Michaelโ€™s School in Ridge is proud to announce the premiere production of โ€œYesterdayโ€™s Marylandโ€, a one act play that highlights the relationship between the early colonists and the Yaocomaco Indians. Eighth-grade student, Mallory Turvey-Manthorne portrays an archaeologist from Historic St. Maryโ€™s City. She is giving a speech to a class about her new findings. During the speech she and a few of the students travel back in time to 1634 where they are able to follow a young colonist through his first day living with the Yaocomaco Indians.

The play is in celebration of Marylandโ€™s 375th anniversary and was written specifically for the students by one of St. Michaelโ€™s faculty.ย  It is appropriate for children in 2nd grade and up.

The performance is open to the community and will be held in the State House at Historic St. Maryโ€™s City on Saturday, May 9 at 12 p.m. The production is FREE.ย  If you wish to tour living history exhibits at Historic St. Maryโ€™s City after the play, please purchase admission at the adjacent Shop at Farthingโ€™s Ordinary.ย  Admission to the new St. Johnโ€™s Site Museum is always free!
