Mary V. Gordon, an expert on community coalition support, will speak at the Feb. 9 community meeting to discuss a community approach to preventing under-age drinking. The meeting will be in the County Commissionersโ€™ meeting room in the Chesapeake Building in Leonardtown from 6-7:30 p.m. and will be televised live on Metrocast Cable Channel 95. Gordon is a program director at the Pacific Institute for Research and Evaluation in Calverton, MD and provides training and technical assistance throughout the country on issues related to youth access to alcohol. Her areas of expertise include policy development and community coalition support.

Her address will help community stakeholders identify action steps to prevent under-age and binge drinking and decrease alcohol-related crashes.ย 

She holds a Masters Degree from New York University and a Bachelors degree from Manhattanville College. Gordon has more than nineteen years of professional experience in the field of program administration, research, training and evaluation. Since 1999, she has also served as a consultant to the National Instituteโ€™s of Healthโ€™s (NIH) High School Student Research Apprentice Program.
