Charles County – On Tuesday, Oct. 27, the Charles County Commission for Women (CCCW) announced the kickoff of โRosemaryโs Closet,โย a project dedicated to providing clothing and essential items to domestic violence and sexual assault survivors.ย The Commission for Women is partnering with LifeStyles of Maryland, Inc. to collect clothing and monetary donations which go directly to agencies that assist domestic violence and sexual assault survivors. ย he project is named after Rosemary Raiman, a former CCCW chairperson and a long-time domestic violence prevention advocate.
โRosemaryโs Closetโ is in need of clothing donations in all sizes โ shirts, sweat/yoga pants, undergarments, sport bras, and socks.ย Donations may be dropped off at LifeStyles of Maryland, Inc. (101 Catalpa Drive, Suite 103, La Plata), Monday through Friday 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Commission for Women Chair Sonya Ford said, โโRosemaryโs Closetโ is a special place where survivors of domestic violence and/or sexual assault can come to receive clothing, and the knowledge that they are not alone. As a survivor of domestic violence, I know the importance of having this support.ย I appreciate the Charles County Commissioners supporting our efforts to meet community needs as we fulfill our mission.”
