Southern Maryland Police Agencies investigated the following property destruction/ theft cases recently.
Construction Site Routinely Robbed
Since June 2006, there have been several thefts from the North Pointe Sub Division, Waldorf.ย These thefts have occurred during the day time and night time hours.
Items taken were copper wire, attic doors, interior doors and a Dewalt 2900 Generator. If anyone has any information about these thefts, please contact the Detective Sergeant D. Truitt at 301-392-1200.ย
Seven House Windows Broken
On Oct. 3, Trooper Roy responded to Drum Point, Lusby, for a destruction of property complaint.ย Investigation revealed that an unknown culprit had used rocks to break out 7 windows to a residence.ย Property damage is estimated at $1750.
9mm Stolen During Burglary
Sometime Oct. 3, an unknown culprit forcibly entered a residence on Wayside Dr., Sunderland, and removed a 9mm handgun and some tools.ย TFC Schmidt is handling the investigation.
Trailer Hauled Off
On Sept. 30, a resident of Asbury Cir., Solomons, reported that an unknown culprit had forcibly entered a gated area and removed a Danzer trailer and motorcycle saddlebags.ย TFC Lass is handling the investigation.
Windshield Smashed
On Sept. 30, A victim on N. Shore Drive in Prince Frederick reported to Cpl. Darren Makrokanis that sometime overnight, unknown suspects had smashed the windshield of her vehicle.ย Damage is estimated at $400. Anyone with information is asked to contact Cpl. Makrokanis at 410-535-2800.
Teens Caught Robbing Cars
On Sept. 29, Trooper Merkelson responded to a theft complaint at Calvert Memorial Hospital.ย Investigation revealed that a resident of Riverdale, was leaving the hospital when he observed a subject closing a door to his vehicle. When he entered the vehicle, he observed that the radio had been stolen.
With the help of hospital security, two suspects were detained and the radio was recovered.ย Arrested at that time for theft (-$500) were two juvenile males (14 & 16) from Hyattsville. After processing, they were released to a guardian.
Lawnmower Runs Away
On Sept. 29, a resident of Ridgeway Terrace, Prince Frederick, reported that an unknown culprit had removed a Craftsman DT 4000 lawn mower from his driveway. Trooper Roy is handling the investigation.
Unlocked Car Robbed
On Sept. 28, Dep. Richard Weems II responded to a home on Doubletree La in Lusby for a reported theft. The victim stated that her purse had been stolen from inside her unlocked vehicle overnight. The purse and itsโ contents are worth $200.
House Spray-Painted
Dep. David Canning responded to a home on Stallion Lane in Lusby for a destruction of property call.ย The victim reported that unknown suspects had spray painted a window, the brick side and the shed of his home. Damage is estimated at 750. The vandalism appears to have occurred sometime on Sept. 26. Canning will continue the investigation.
Do-Gooders Try to Help Kid Who Doesnโt Need It
At 4:30 p.m. Sept. 26, Det. Vladimir Bortchevsky responded to Mt. Harmony Elementary School, Dunkirk, for a report of unknown suspects trying to gain entry into a vehicle.
