After hearing outrage from citizens in Charles County for months, Charles County Emergency Services made some changes to the most controversial points of its proposed animal regulation changes.
“Bully breed” specific portions have been removed from the proposal. Requirements for how animals must be sheltered when outdoors and tethering remain the same. Commissioner Ken Robinson (D: 1st) and Bobby Rucci both complimented the department for moving forward and listening to public input.
“To the community, your input does make a difference,” Robinson said.
Ed Tucker from the Department of Emergency Services said the legislation now has the support of the Humane Society of Charles County.
“We are in agreement with the revised Charles County Animal Control regulations proposal, with the removal of all proposed revisions relating the regulation of pit bull type dogs.,” Anita Marsh. President of Humane Society of Charles County, told TheBayNet.com on Wednesday.
A public hearing was set for Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at 6pm.
