St. Maryโs County Public Schools, Playground Specialists Inc. and Playworld Systems, Inc. cordially invite the public to the ribbon cutting ceremony of Town Creek Elementary Schoolโs community playground on Tuesday, Nov. 25, at 9:30 a.m., at the school site located at 45805 Dent Drive in Lexington Park.
This environmental friendly playground is part of St. Maryโs County Public Schoolsโ dedication and initiative to design, build and operate schools that provide highly productive learning environments which are energy efficient. This play structure is unique because it is made of thermoset polyethylene, a tough, durable and environmentally friendly alternative, which is 100 percent recyclable.ย The play space surfacing has recycled concrete as the base for its 100 percent recycled tire surfacing.
โThis is just one more fine example of the efforts taking place in St. Maryโs County Public Schools to improve the environmentโ said Dr. Michael J. Martirano, superintendent of schools.
The coordination and installment of Town Creek Elementary Schoolโs community playground was made through Playground Specialists Inc., a full service recreation company based in Emmitsburg and a Playworld Systems, Inc. partner.ย Jeff Barber and Mike Slifer, of Playground Specialists Inc., have worked with SMCPS on many projects in the past.
โThis is one of the most exciting projects that we had the ability to work on,โ said Barber, president of the company.
Because Playworld Systems believes the world needs play, it strives to produce the most innovative, creative and imaginative products, while at the same time, tangibly reducing its carbon footprint.
