St. Maryโs County Metropolitan Commission (MetCom) reports three wastewater overflows which occurred on September 30 and October 1, 2010 in the Lexington Park sewerage system. These overflows were caused by heavy rainfall and are at the following locations:
1.ย ย ย ย ย Manhole at Old Missouri Street.ย estimated approximately 47,250 gallonsย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย
2.ย ย ย ย ย ย Interceptor Sewer through Patuxent River NAS (south side), estimated approximately 63,000 gallons
3.ย ย ย ย ย In front of Forest Run Wastewater Pumping Station, 21451 Great Mills Road, estimated approximately 45,000 gallons
ย ย ย ย ย ย
Because of the high rate of dilution caused by storm water inflow into the sewerage system and surface water flooding in these vicinities, no adverse public health impact is anticipated.ย However, as a necessary precaution MetCom and County Health officials have decided to post signs in the vicinity of Old Missouri Street and Forest Run Drive to warn the public against human or animal contact with standing water in these areas until October 7, 2010.ย
