The St. Mary’s County Metropolitan Commission is reporting a sanitary sewer leak that occurred on October 17-18, 2010 in the area of 17061 Point Lookout Road, St. Mary’s City, MD.
The sanitary sewer leak occurred as a result of pipe failure and the total estimated volume of the leak is 45,000 to 50,000 gallons. Receiving waters affected by this leak include portions of Fisherman Creek and St. Mary’s River.
Public contact of the affected portions of Fisherman Creek and St. Mary’s River should be avoided for seven days.
