The Charles County Department of Public Works is asking citizens to make efforts to conserve water following last night’s severe storms, which affected water operations at some of the county’s water stations.ย Citizens are urged to refrain from washing cars, watering the lawn, and other non-essential water usage until further notice.
Some tips for water conservation include:
- Refrain from watering lawns, shrubs, flowers.
- Do not wash cars.
- Do not top off swimming pools.
- Use water only as necessary (i.e., take shorter showers and turn off faucets after washing hands).
- Limit flushing toilets (do not flush after every use).
- Postpone using washing machines and dishwashers.
Until repairs are complete, it is imperative that all businesses and residents restrict their water use.ย If citizens do not reduce their water use significantly, it may be necessary to declare a water emergency and impose mandatory water restrictions.
