While the earthquake in Haiti received most of the media attention in 2010, here at home the local Southern Maryland Chapter Red Cross responded to more than 100 disasters. That’s an average of one every 4-5 days.
Your vital disaster support helped us serve meals, and host families, children and people with nowhere else to go, in our shelters.
We still need your support for all the disasters large and small – so that families are not alone in the dark hours immediately after a disaster. Whether it’s a flood or multifamily apartment fire that affects hundreds of people, or a house fire that leaves a family homeless in the night.
Donate before midnight tomorrow, December 31, to be eligible for a charitable tax-deduction for 2010.
