St. Leonard, MD ย – An elderly Prince Georgeโ€™s County man is facing drug charges and a long list of traffic violations after being stopped in Calvert County while driving erratically.

According to documents on file in District Court, the suspectโ€”identified as Louis Lancaster Johnson, 74 of Suitland, was stopped by Deputy Moran of the Calvert County Sheriffโ€™s Office Jan. 19 on southbound Route 2/4 in the area of Parkers Creek Road in St. Leonard.

Moran spotted Johnson traveling at a low rate of speed. โ€œI observed the vehicle to be traveling in the middle of the roadway,โ€ Moran stated in court documents. โ€œI observed the vehicle travel completely into the number two lane and then return to the middle of the roadway.โ€

Moran was subsequently able to get Parker to pull his 2008 Volkswagen Passat off the roadway. The deputy noticed the vehicleโ€™s windshield was cracked.

Johnson had an odor of alcoholic beverage. Johnson stated he had not had anything to drink prior to driving but took several seconds to think prior to answering.โ€

Moran also stated he saw a small plastic bag containing white powder and two cut straws on the Passatโ€™s console. โ€œJohnson stated the bag did not belong to him,โ€ Moran said in court documents.

Johnson was administered a series of tests, which Moran indicated he failed, nearly failing to the roadway after the final one. โ€œThe test was stopped for Johnsonโ€™s safety,โ€ Moran stated.

Johnson was later administered a breathalyzer test and blew a .07 BrAC
A further search of the Passat yielded three cut straws containing suspected cocaine, three small bags of suspected cocaine and two small rocks of suspected crack cocaine.

Johnson was charged with controlled dangerous substance (CDS) possession not marijuana, CDS possession of paraphernalia, driving a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, driving while impaired by alcohol, negligent driving, reckless driving, driving on a suspended license and five other traffic charges.
