Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (D, MD) hosted a congratulatory tea reception on Capitol Hill, Monday, to honor Fifth Congressional District students. A record twenty students were offered prestigious spots at U.S. service academies.

“I couldn’t be more proud of the extraordinary group of students from the 5th District that was accepted to a U.S. military academy this year,” stated Hoyer. “All are exceptional scholars, community leaders and athletes – precisely the well-rounded individuals the academies seek to recruit.”

Each year, Rep. Hoyer nominates outstanding candidates from the 5th District, which covers St. Mary’s, Charles and Calvert Counties as well as portions of Prince George’s and Anne Arundel Counties.
