The St. Maryโs County Department of Recreation and Parks is pleased to announce that, in collaboration with St. Maryโs County Public Schools, the New Horizons Summer Camp program will be offered again this year for children ages 4-20 with disabilities.ย The camp will begin Monday, June 28 and will end Friday, August 6.ย ย ย The New Horizons Summer Camp Program will operate on weekdays from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., at the Margaret Brent Middle School in Loveville. The New Horizons program registration is now open with a registration fee of $750. Assistance in finding financial assistance is available.
Children in this program will receive a free nutritional breakfast and lunch each day through the Departmentโs participation in the U.S. Department of Agricultureโs Summer Food Service Program. Meals will be provided to all enrolled eligible children free of charge.ย Children who are part of households that receive food stamps or benefits under Temporary Cash Assistance (TCA) are automatically eligible to receive free meals.
Activities include arts and crafts, music, swimming, and exercise, field trips and more. Families who are registered with the Department of Social Services Respite Program may use 60 level one hours of their respite care to pay the registration fee.ย ย The program will not discriminate in the course of the meal service and will not promote physical segregation or other discrimination against any child because of race, color, age, national origin, sex or disability ย
Acceptance and participation requirements for the Program and all activities are the same for all regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability, and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service.ย
