Third-grader Jonathan Fisher was one lucky kid.

One day while shopping, Elizabeth Fisher thought to enter her son in a contest she spotted at her local Giant supermarket, the Mid-Atlantic Dairy Associationโ€™s โ€œTake Jon Jansen to Schoolโ€ contest.

Fisher won the contest, earning Craik Elementary in Pomfret the chance to host Washington Redskins offensive tackle Jon Jansen at a school assembly.

On Friday, May 18th, Fisher met and introduced Jansen to Craik Elementary students and teachers during an assembly about the importance of nutrition and exercise.ย

This wasnโ€™t just a sit and listen kind of assembly.ย At one point, Jansen had students demonstrating push-ups and jumping jacks.ย  ย He spoke about how he prepares for game days by eating grains, fruits, vegetables and dairy products.

โ€œIt was great to talk to the Craik Elementary students about healthy eating. ย I know how important it is for growing kids to learn healthy habits, like eating right and getting plenty of exercise, which will stick with them as they age,โ€ Jansen said.
