
Ronald L. Scruggsย
Lexington Park, MD— On April 13, Maryland State Police Trooper Ditoto responded to Ronald Drive in Lexington Park for a reported domestic assault.
When Ditoto arrived on the scene contact was made with the alleged victim who advised, “Her and her boyfriend were arguing about the fact that he does not have a job and does not provide for her and their two children,” according to charging documents.
The defendant was identified as Ronald L. Scruggs, 22 of Bushwood. The complainant said that Scruggs was asking her for more money and she was refusing to give him any money.
The complainant stated that Scruggs became extremely agitated with her and began to assault her in an attempt to take her wallet and cell phone from her.
During the incident, Scruggs allegedly grabbed the victim’s arms and either kicked her leg or pushed her leg into something, the trooper stated in documents, because the woman’s left leg was hurt.
The complainant advised that “Scruggs was under the influence of alcohol and marijuana during the incident,” according to charging documents.
The complainant also stated that Scruggs has assaulted her numerous times in the past, and the police have been called at least 10 times for him (Scruggs)ย assaulting the victim.
Ditoto made a request on April 13 for a criminal summons/arrest warrant to be issued from Scruggs charging him with second-degree assault . The warrant was not served until July 9. Currently, Scruggs is jailed at the St.Mary’s County Detention Center.
Scruggs faces a maximum jail sentence of 25 years and/or a maximum fine of $2,500 if he is found guilty of both charges that he faces.
