
Lusby, MD = An early-morning house fire did an estimated $55,000 damage to a two-story home in Calvert County Monday, Aug. 1, state officials reported.
According to the Maryland State Fire Marshalโs Office, the blaze was reported around 12:29 a.m. and occurred on Eldorado Lane in Lusby.ย
โThe investigation revealed the gas stove was left on and caused the fire,โ a fire marshalโs report stated. โThe occupants were displaced and are being assisted by the American Red Cross.โ
Twenty-five firefighters were dispatched to the one-alarm fire. Crews had the flames under control in 10 minutes. There were no injuries.

According to Norman Rae of the Solomons Volunteer Rescue Squad and Fire Department (Company 3), crews remained โon the scene for approximately two hours assisting the fire marshal and checking for hot spots.โ In addition to Company 3, Rae reported that crews from St. Leonard, Prince Frederick, Bay District and Hollywood responded to the scene.
The fire marshal identified the owner occupant as Spiro T. Maroulis.
