Four restaurants in Charles and St. Maryโ€™s counties will help raise money for the Wounded Veterans 5K being hosted March 24 by the Charles County Sheriffโ€™s Office (CCSO), the Charles County Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) and the Charles County Correctional Officers Association (CCCOA):

Pizza Hotline

  • March 20 between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m.

The restaurants will donate a portion of their profits during the designated hours. All dine-in and carryout orders qualify and no tickets or fliers are required to participate.

The 5K begins at 9 a.m. March 24 at the Laurel Springs Regional Park in La Plata and will raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project, which provides comfort and financial support to wounded service members. Participants will choose a timed race or a non-competitive family-friendly walk. On-site registration begins 8 a.m. but participants may pre-register online at www.woundedveterans5krun.eventbrite.com. Those who register online by March 10 will receive a commemorative T-shirt. The registration fees are $30 for adults and $15 for children ages 12 to 17. The event is free for children younger than 12.ย  All proceeds benefit the Wounded Warrior Project.
