La Plata, MD–Rocktoberfest 2015, presented by the La Plata Business Association (LPBA) and produced by Island Music Company, announced August 24 that Charles County Public Schools is the beneficiary of the raffle fundraiser to be held at the small-town rock music festival in the heart of the downtown business district of La Plata for music lovers of all-ages on Saturday, October, 3, 2015, from 3 to 10 p.m. at Casey Jones Restaurant and Bar located at 417 E. Charles Street, La Plata, MD.
The Rocktoberfest 2015 raffle grand prize is a beauty! It’s a Paul Reed Smith® Santana SE Guitar and includes a free lesson voucher. The grand prize is valued at $1,120 and will be raffled at the festival. The winning ticket holder need not be present to win. A raffle ticket is $10 each.
A portion of the raffle proceeds will be donated to Charles County Public Schools to support the Fine and Performing Arts educational programs for young artists. Research suggests the positive impact of a music education, including learning abilities and communication skills.
This year, Paul Reed Smith and his dedicated team at PRS Guitars celebrate thirty years of making some of the finest quality guitars played by professional musicians worldwide. Paul’s passion for making guitars for a living was inspired by his love for working with his hands as a student in shop classes and a challenge he made with his college music professor to build his first guitar to earn extra credit. Paul Reed Smith launched his company in 1985, after receiving an “A” on the project, earning a reputation early on that continues today for building guitars of unequalled quality and sound.
The rock music festival will feature live entertainment to showcase local influential musicians and emerging talents, modern pub cuisine, raffle prizes and Street Market. The market will feature a variety of vendors and the Bill Waugh & Associates – Allstate Insurance Kid Zone with activities for kids, including face painting by Kat and a 25’ climbing rock wall from 3 – 6 p.m.
