Dowell, MD – A huge two-day celebration was held at Annmarie Sculpture Garden and Arts Center Saturday, Sept. 20 and Sunday, Sept. 21.
Attendees to the 21st annual Artsfest had a lot of things to see and do at the weekend event, which is billed as “The Finest Arts Festival in Southern Maryland.”
Garden officials reported the event included more than 165 artist booths, 30 performers on two stages plus plenty of food and drink.
Children had an array of activities to enjoy at the Discovery Tent and the “Zany Zone.”
Music of virtually every genre was performed by bands and soloists in two separate venues—the main stage and the council ring. There were also dancers and even a jester. Roving street performers included stilt walkers, mimes and balloon artists.
Several corporate sponsors and independent local businesses support Artsfest. Also lending support are the Maryland State Arts Council, the National Endowment for the Arts and the Arts Council of Calvert County.
