Body of missing boater recovered from Chesapeake Bay

UPDATE  – The body of a boater who went missing June 27 has been recovered from the Chesapeake Bay near Poplar Island, authorities report.

Maryland NRP say that the victim has been identified as Kevin Charles Yates Sr., 41, of Church Hill, Queen Anne’s County. Yates went missing last Wednesday as his 40 foot cruiser was crossing Eastern Bay and Herrington Harbour. Yate’s death marks the 11th boating fatality this year, according to Maryland NRP. 

TRACY’S LANDING, Md. – The search for a boater who went overboard into the Chesapeake Bay is underway, according to Maryland Natural Resource Police. Official say the boater went overboard in the area of Eastern Bay and Herrington Harbour South. This is a developing story.
