At 7:58 pm crews were dispatched to the base of the Governor Thomas Johnson Bridge on Route 4 for a vehicle into a guardrail.
Crews arrived on the scene and found the driver of the vehicle with her legs pinned underneath the dash. Rescue Crews went to work extricating the patient by removing the roof, doors and lifting the dash to free the patient’s legs.
Patient was then flown to PG shock trauma.
Crews on the scene advised the patient had a compound fracture to her leg. State highway administration was requested due glass covering a quarter mile area of the road, use caution in the area.
