AFTERNOON THROUGH LATE TONIGHT…

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* Portions of Maryland, The District of Columbia, and northern
ย  Virginia, including the following areas, in Maryland, Anne
ย  Arundel, Carroll, Central and Southeast Howard, Central and
ย  Southeast Montgomery, Northern Baltimore, Northwest Harford,
ย  Northwest Howard, Northwest Montgomery, Prince Georges,
ย  Southeast Harford, and Southern Baltimore. The District of
ย  Columbia. In northern Virginia, Arlington/Falls
ย  Church/Alexandria, Eastern Loudoun, Fairfax, Prince
ย  William/Manassas/Manassas Park, and Southern Fauquier.

* From 2 PM EDT this afternoon through late tonight

* Numerous showers and thunderstorms capable of producing heavy
ย  rainfall are expected to approach the region this afternoon
ย  and continue past midnight. Localized rainfall amounts of 2 to
ย  4 inches are expected.

* Rapid rises of creeks and streams will be possible due to
ย  torrential rainfall, potentially spilling beyond their banks.
ย  In addition, low points along roadways may become impassible
ย  due to accumulating runoff. Flash flooding may develop
ย  quickly.
