ย
The sanitary sewer leak occurred as a result of a broken sanitary sewer pipe and failure of the adjacent storm drain. The total volume of the overflow is estimated atย  55,000 gallons. The area affected by this overflow is an unnamed stream, which is a tributary of Hilton Run. Public contact of the unnamed stream and the upper portion of Hilton Run should be avoided for seven days.

For additional information, please contact the St. Maryโ€™s County Health Department at (301) 475-4321.

There has been a sanitary sewer line break and a stormwater sewer failure in the Patuxent Homes areas on Cabot Drive. As a result, wasterwater has entered a storm drain, affecting the area from Cabot Drive to Great Mills Road, between the A&E Motel and Burger King.

There is no active leak at this time and crews are working to make the necessary repairs and to clean-up the affected areas. MetCom has posted the area with signs and human contact with standing water in these areas should be avoided.
