At approximately 2:25 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 2 firefighters from Bay District, Pax River and Lexington Park responded to a report of a working fire at 22182 Erickson Ct. in Lexington Park. Firefighters arrived on scene to find a shed, 10 feet from a residence, fully involved.
Firefighters worked to keep the blaze from affecting the residence.
Investigation revealed an accidental fire occurred due to the use of an unattended space heater in a dog kennel. A neighbor discovered the fire and called 911. Four dogs perished in the blaze.
The fire caused damage to the dog kennel and an attached shed, as well as a 1990 Camper next to the shed.
