On November 23, 2010 at the St. Mary’s County Board of County Commissioners’ Meeting, the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) Commissioner, Maryland State Senator James Robey, formally presented Sheriff Timothy K. Cameron and the St. Mary’s County Board of County Commissioners with CALEA’s Award of Re-Accreditation.
CALEA’s Award of Re-Accreditation signifies the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office has not only implemented some of the nation’s best practices, operating policies and standards in law enforcement, but those practices are reflected and carried out in the agency’s day-to-day operations.
“The law enforcement accreditation program was developed to address what was seen as a need to enhance law enforcement as a profession and to improve the law enforcement mission which continues today. This agency’s commitment to the rigorous process of re-accreditation lets our community know their Sheriff’s Office adheres to CALEA standards to promote professional excellence and endeavors to perform at the highest of levels.” (Sheriff Timothy K.
