Southern Maryland, MD— Southern Maryland is experiencing significant rainfall this week, with many major implications to your home.

“We have seen a major influx in calls for flooding incidents involvingย homes in St. Mary’s County and Calvert County,” said a representative from SERVPRO in Lexington Park.

The Southern Maryland area residents can expect up to 7″ of rain to fall throughoutย this week into the weekend. ย ย

“I wish I had a service technician that was available to talk to you more, but all technicians are out currently servicingย homes in the area,” said the representative from SERVPRO. ย

Southern Maryland should see a let up in the rain sometime this weekend, but in the meanwhile make sure you follow these easy preventativeย steps to ensure your home doesn’t flood.ย

–ย Make sure that your roof’s gutters and downspouts are in good condition, free of leaves and debris.ย

-If you don’t have room to extend the downspouts, underground PVC drain pipes can be installed and the rain water can be directed to the back or front yards.

-Make sure that you have a good quality dehumidifier in your basement.

-Make sure that your sump pump, and if you already have one, is equipped with a 120 volt UPS battery backup power supply.
