Honolulu, Hawaii – News services are reporting that entertainer Jim Nabors has died. Nabors, who was 87 died peacefully at his home in Hawaii. Born in Alabama, Nabors joined the cast of “The Andy Griffith Show” in the early 1960s. His role as gas station attendant Gomer Pyle led to a spinoff show, “Gomer Pyle, USMC.”
Nabors later starred in his own variety show on CBS.
For several years, Nabors would belt out “Back Home Again in Indiana” just before the start of the Indianapolis 500.
